On August 1st, Tracey Paliath joined the MACS team as our Director of Government Relations. Many of you know Tracey from her work most recently with Chimes, Inc, first as the Deputy Director of Chimes Maryland, and then as the Director of Government Affairs and Advocacy.  Prior to her work at Chimes, Tracey served as Deputy Secretary with the MD Department of Human Resources, and Director of Economic Services for Jewish Community Services. Tracey is an attorney who also worked in private practice earlier in her career. … Read More

2022 Legislative Session Wrap Up

The 2022 Maryland General Assembly adjourned at midnight on Monday!  The attached report and bill chart describe many of the budget and legislative items that we— many of you included—worked on during the 90-day session.  MACS will continue to update you as more information about paid family and medical leave becomes available—specifically what the overall rate of contribution will be as well as the employer- employee split.

Legislative Update Week of February 14, 2022

Over 2000 bills have been introduced by members of the Maryland General Assembly—with more to come!  This week was the first of 3 bill hearings on paid family and medical leave—aka—The Time to Care Act.   This week: Paid Family & Medical Leave: Two paid family leave bills, HB 8 and HB 496, will be heard in the House Economic Matters Committee (ECM) on Tuesday, February 15th, at 1pm.  The lead sponsor on HB 496 is the chair of the ECM committee. MACS is happy to announce a new peer network focusing on LTSS. This peer network will be different from our current peer networks in a few ways. Recognizing the need for information as soon as possible, the LTSS Peer Network will meet monthly.
